Blame It on Bossa Nova

Take a trip south of the equator to a musical place where the cool Copacabana breezes whisk you away in the rhythms of Brazil. As the volume rises on your headset the Brazilian jazz masters come to life,Roberto Menescal, Sergio Mendes, Jobim, Djvan, Gal Costa, Astrud, Joao Gilberto, Caymi, Elise Regina and de Moraes, sooth your samba soul.

So astounding is the music of Brazil that it’s influence invaded the USA during the mid 50’s and 60’s, then permeated it’s way around the world. The impression made has been almost impact-full and timeless as Jazz itself, forever changing the musical landscape and creating bossa nova torch bearers in many countries around the globe.

Each week Mojito Jazz Radio serves up the best of bossa nova and samba, paying homage to the masters of Brazil and celebrating new artist that continue to carry the torch for its rhythmic beats and seductive sound. To this day the sound is infectious as the moment it was introduced and 60 plus years later sweeping through places like China, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and the Philippines. Bossa & Samba is hotter than ever and we’ve got new music and artist to prove it.

Since we will already be south of the border, you will also be treated to red hot Latin and Afro Cuban icons of jazz. Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente, Poncho Sanchez, Fania AllStars,Celia Cruz and Carlos Santana are just a few of the premier artist bringing us the Latin side of jazz.  Tune in to the sound of the lounge as we samba and salsa our way south of the border with “blame it on bossa nova”.
